Artificial nails

What do you know about artificial nails? Well I have recently read a few articles about artificial nails from a website. Here is what I’ve read.

“Artificial nails are moving south. Artificial toe nails are the new nail care trend. Artificial nails are generally made of acrylic, and their popularity is growing among people who have missing toenails or those who want to make their nails longer, smoother or cover the yellow. In April 2005, Nails Magazine said "Americans spent $6.43 billion in nail salons."

Fake toe nails began in California about 5 years ago, but the trend hasn't hit every nail salon across the country. Just as with fingernails, acrylic or a "newer gel substance" is used and applied to the entire nail, or the tips, needing filled in as they grow out. Nails may become "weaker and uglier" after the nails have been used for a while. That just keeps fake toenail wearers coming back to keep their toes covered.

If you don't have the $40 for a set from a salon, Wal-Mart sells temporary ones and the glue to set them. The downside of artificial toenails is that any covering for a nail, including polish, causes it to retain moisture which makes them more likely to get infected or have a fungal growth. They can also separate the toenail from the bed leaving room for these and other problems. Wearing closed toe shoes may also be a problem.

The success of the artificial toenail seems surprising to some, but people with unsightly nail conditions, no toenail, or just someone wanting beautiful looking toes, are buying and using them more and more. Check out your local salon for a set, but remember to take good care of them to avoid problems.”

“Artificial toenails are a fairly new development They can applied at home, or by a nail technician and are an amazing innovation for anyone who is embarrassed by the state of their toenails.

Wouldn't it be great to have perfectly manicured toenails when you wear sandals and flip flops in the summer? Imagine walking down the beach with perfect toenails. Fake toenails are now available. Some people may want to go down this route because their nails are missing and others are covering up yellow toenails that have become unattractive.

This new trend is moving fast. Finger nails have gone through the stages of vinyl stick ons, nylon overlays, and acrylics overlays. They have been painted bright colors, had intricate designs painted onto them and now toenails follow that trend.Watch out for this, it's the next big trend.”
